Being
a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor is one of the most sought-after credentials
in the recreational diving industry.
What
does the PADI Instructor Development Course and Instructor Examination
consist of?
The
IDC is an intensive seven day programme that will teach you all the skills
you need to be able to teach recreational divers. Following the IDC the
two day Instructor Exam will assess everything you've learned, and if
successful you will qualify as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
Who's
Eligible?
To
take part you must:
- Be
certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level certification
with another recreational diver training organization.
- Be
at least 18 years old.
- Be
fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination
conducted within the past 12 months. A licensed physician must sign
the form and state that the candidate is fit for diving. The physician
signing the form may not be the applicant.
- Have
been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and
logged at least 60 open water scuba dives (as documented in the individual's
log book) and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation
diving. NB: To attend an IE, the instructor candidate must have at least
100 logged dives.
- Submit
proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
- Submit
documentation of any qualifying certification for entry level, advanced,
rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training
organization.
- If
not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course
diver rescue skills assessment.
How to Enter
Once
you have achieved PADI Divemaster level or equivalent, complete the registration
form that you can download HERE
and return it to Marketing Dept, PADI International Ltd, Unit 7
St Philips Central, Albert Road, Bristol, BS2 0PD.
Terms
& Conditions
- PADI
will provide the PADI Instructor Development Course and the Instructor
Exam free of charge.
- The
IDC and IE must be taken in the UK at a venue agreed with PADI.
- You
must meet the eligibility criteria specified above.
- The
winner is responsible for their own travel, accommodation and meals
for the duration of the IDC and IE.
- If
the candidate is not successful during the IDC and IE PADI will not
fund further attempts.
- Competition
closing date 31st December 2008. PADI International Ltd are not responsible
for any late or lost entries.
- The
draw will take place within 14 days of the closing date and winners
will be notified in writing within 28 days.
- Prize
must be booked and taken by 31st December 2009.
- The
prize is not transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
- Winner
will be asked to participate in publicity related to the prize.
